E39 / E38 / M62 Timing Chain Guide

The E39 and E38 with the M62 engine can have issues with the timing chain guides.  The plastic on the guides that the chain runs on, becomes brittle with age.  In the case of the vehicle in these pictures, the plastic on the upper guide was completely gone when we got it apart.  You can see the difference between the old and new guide.  Also if you look closely you see the chain resting on the guide with no plastic at all.  This can cause serious noise issues, and if not attended to, can also be detrimental to the engine.

 

E39 Brake Booster Brake Fluid Leak

This is a Brake Booster & Master Cylinder out of a E39 530.  This master cylinder had been leaking brake fluid for a while. The brake fluid leaked into the brake booster, causing the booster to start to rust on the inside.  Symptoms of a leaking master cylinder are a very soft brake pedal, that travels to the floor.  A brake booster going bad can cause a very stiff brake pedal.  This vehicle had a strange combination of both.

E90 3-Series Carbon Build Up N54 N55

We recently started performing Carbon or Walnut Blasting.  This is a process used on Direct Injected vehicles to clean the carbon build up off of the intake valves.  Carbon build up can lead to rough idle, misfire and poor performance issues.  This customer commented that his vehicle felt as it did when it was brand new.

This is a 2004 545. It is very common for these vehicles to leak oil from the valve covers & upper timing case covers. The repair can take up to two days to complete.

This 2001 BMW 3 series has some sludge in the motor, this is not as bad as other cars I have seen. Change your oil more frequently and you might not have these problems!
